Here I sit a life of ease No Candle or Quill Nor blanket over knee. The Plumber has come and gone No great flooding No Gas explosion! Though I did Jolly on a little Four days quite enough. The air outside may freeze my head But I am more than warm within my bed And at my desk this moment as is Before it is gone within warm air I may be bald ,but need no hair The Boiler is modern Quietly hums in the far cupboard Near the front door At last I am able to move the settee In the corner that was wasted before The old boiler was there But I cannot think why? Looked odd in the sitting room Was a pain to the eye. All is not yet finished The windows are ancient The doors solid but old Let through the draughts And much of the cold. But help is at hand They come next week Two panes to each window Where there was only one And two lovely new doors. I shall then sit in comfort Regardless of weather The better for thought.
